Are you ready to get started on the Road from Rags to Riches? Starting here, starting now, starting from where you are, you can create your dream business.
If you are reading this blog, chances are you are not entirely happy with where you are in your life. Maybe you’re not making enough money…maybe you don’t have enough time to do the things you care about…maybe you don’t see any chance of creating a nest egg for retirement or a trip around the world.
No matter where you are, you can start by taking just one small action today that will lead you down the path from the life you have now to the life you have always dreamed of. For the next 30 days, I will be guiding you through a process of self discovery and learning about wealth creation from some of the greatest experts in the world. Just give me 30 minutes a day, and by the end of the month, you will have a roadmap to create your personal ideal business. So let’s get started!
Do you know the biggest secret of most of the world’s wealthiest entrepreneurs? Nearly all of them have experienced a personal bankruptcy, or at last a huge failure that left them to start building their careers all over again. Yes, I mean people like P.T. Barnum, David Buick (founder of Buick Motors), Walt Disney, James Folger (founder of Folger Coffee), Henry Ford, Conrad Hilton, J.C. Penney, Sam Walton, William Fox (founder of 20th Century Fox Film Corp.), H.J. Heinz, and Frank Lloyd Wright…to name just a few.
What did they know that you don’t know? The legendary Dan Kennedy, known as the “millionaire maker” coach, says that bankruptcy is a profound experience that leads the entrepreneur to fully realize just how replaceable money is! Creating wealth requires a willingness to take risk and experience failure…and to recover from it quickly and decisively. According to Dan, the one secret shared by successful entrepreneurs is the absence of fear.
“Fears about money inhibit your wealth attraction powers. Absence of fears about money releases your full wealth attraction power.”
Not convinced yet? Let me tell you about two well-known multi-millionaires, both stars of the best-selling book and video The Secret.
John Assaraf was an immigrant from the Middle East living in a poor neighborhood in Canada. He spent most of his teen years running with a group of kids who kept getting into trouble. In high school, he started down the path to becoming a professional athlete, but a freak car accident ended his prospects for pro basketball forever. Yet he managed to overcome all that, without even getting a college degree, to build four multi-millionaire dollar businesses. Now John is known as an internationally bestselling author, speaker and coach.
Joe Vitale, another start of The Secret, was once homeless and living in poverty. He is now a best-selling author and coach, and is considered one of the pioneers of internet marketing. His rags to riches story has inspired thousands of people to create online empires. Joe is often called the Buddha of the Internet for his inspirational and spiritual approach to creating wealth.
What all of these gurus would tell you is…if they can do it, you can do it, too! And they all got where they are by thinking BIG, and by caring about something beyond themselves. So, for today, let’s put fear aside and envision your idea life…a life filled with passion, success, and everything you need to make you happy.
Sound good? Then let’s get started. One thing I know for sure, you can never get your dream life without knowing exactly what you want. So you need to take the time right now to answer some simple but fundamental questions about your life. We will be doing a lot of interactive exercises on this journey, so I recommend that you get yourself a new notebook to jot down your responses. By the time the month is finished, you will have a written roadmap to your own personal dream life.
- What is your definition of success? This may include money…but there are lots of other aspects to a successful life. ..health, family, spirituality, etc. Really think about what matters to you, then finish the following sentence: I will feel successful when …
- How much money do you want to make? If you’ve always wanted to be a millionaire, that is fine. But don’t just make up a number here. Think about what you will use the money for, and try to quantify how much money it would take to achieve your goals. For example, you may have enough money for day-to-day expenses, but not enough to buy your dream house or car. You may long to travel, or take up an expensive hobby. Whatever it is, write it down and put a $ value next to it. Then finish the following sentence: I would like to make xxxx$ by xxxx(date) in order to do ……
- Finally, I want you to visualize what your ideal day would look like. I’m not talking about a day of vacation, but your every day reality. Where would you live? What time would you wake up? Would you prefer to commute or work at home? What would you actually be doing during the hours you were working? Who else would be in the picture? How much time would you spend working? What other activities would be included in your daily life? The more detail you put into this vision, the better. So, state it in the present tense, as if you are already living your dream, and start with the following sentence: I wake up at …..
Okay, I think we have done enough for today. Congratulations on taking the first step. It is often the most difficult one. If you weren’t quite clear what you want to be doing on your ideal day, no worries. Tomorrow we will talk some more about uncovering your passions, and how to connect your passions with a greater purpose in life. Until then, you may want to take a look at some of the recommended resources I have mentioned in this post. I also have a great free ebook for you to download below.
