Who are you?
A simple question, but the answer is a bit more complicated.
There is the internal you…the consistent self you were born with and live with on an intimate level.
There is the intimate you…the thoughts and feelings you share with your closest friends.
There is the public you…the persona you wear at work and social events.
And then there is the you that other people perceive…unbeknownst to you.
At a recent business intensive, my coach Suzanne Evans introduced us to a new way of looking at our self-image.
She challenged us to ask friends, colleagues and clients for three words that most describe our qualities and characteristics.
That was a scary prospect, but late one night I got up the courage to go on Facebook and message a few members of my tribe.
The Wordle graphic you see in this post is a composite of all the words they used to describe me.
To say I was overwhelmed is an understatement.
These are words I would love to say about myself, but never could.
I bet you have the same issue.
Most of us were brought up not to toot our own horns, not to brag, not to be too big for our britches.
We spend our lives hiding our light under a bushel.
That is a belief system you have to change if you want to fulfill your life’s purpose.
Your best qualities are your greatest gift to the world. They were meant to be shared, to serve others, to make the world a better place.
So this is one time when it is a good idea to listen to other people. Take in all the wonderful things they say about you.
See yourself as others see you, and enjoy the abundance that flows through your life.
